About me
I am an American-Swedish political scientist with broad expertise on global governance and global political economy. I work as a Researcher Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). I am also an affiliated researcher at the Institute for Futures Studies in Stockholm, Sweden, where I previously worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher. I also previously worked as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Stockholm University. I completed a PhD in Political Science at Stockholm University in May 2021. Since September 2024, I am the Secretary of the LSE Branch of the University and College Union.
Much of my research has focused on business and human rights, a field in which I have published, lectured, and consulted widely. I was one of the first social scientists to publish peer-reviewed research about the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. My PhD thesis examined the motivations of early adopters of National Action Plans on business and human rights, and some of my current research addresses themes of transnational litigation and global public policy on climate change-related corporate human rights due diligence. My current research also covers: goal-setting in global governance and the politics of aspiration; the effectiveness and legitimacy of transnational multistakeholder partnerships; and the development of international law on climate change.
I have accumulated around 1,000 hours of teaching experience. I have lectured, taught seminars, grades exams, and supervised undergraduate and postgraduate student research on social constructivism, international organizations, global environmental governance, and Swedish Politics. I have taught in the Department of Political Science and the Department of Economic History and International Relations at Stockholm University, as well as at DIS Stockholm.
My research is highly impactful, and I have extensive experience engaging with policy communities. At the Grantham Research Institute, I have contributed to submissions to various high-level global policy consultations, including for the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the context of climate change, the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights, and the UN High-Level Expert Group on the Net-Zero Emissions Commitments of Non-state Entities. I have also advised on revisions to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct. Alongside my doctoral studies, I worked as a Senior Consultant at a public affairs agency in Stockholm, where I advised organizations on sustainability policy, engaging international stakeholders, and influencing policymakers.
